New art print inspired by Izz Café owners to raise funds for World Central Kitchen's work in Gaza
All profits will be donated to World Central Kitchen to help their efforts in Gaza.
A new original print reading "MAKE HUMMUS NOT WAR" has been released by Blasta Books. All proceeds will be donated to World Central Kitchen to support their work providing meals in Gaza.
The print is designed by JANDO, an award-winning printmaking studio based in Dublin.
The art was inspired by Blasta Books authors Izzeddeen Alkarajeh and Eman Aburabi who have the original version on a mural painted next to their Izz Café in Cork City, which included the line "make hummus, not war".
The pair are releasing a new edition to the Blasta Book series, JIBRIN, which is a celebration of Palestinian cuisine and recipes from their café.
"Food and stories are what we all have in common, no matter who we are or where we’re from," said Blasta Books publisher Kristin Jensen. "This print is a reminder that when we sit down together to share food at the table, we can find points of connection and commonality.”
JANDO founders Julie & Owen McLoughlin said they are “so proud to partner with Blasta Books on this special edition print featuring the powerful words ‘Make Hummus Not War’, and to reimagine this message of peace and resilience through our work."
"We hope the print resonates with those who hang it in their homes, and we’re honoured that every sale supports the incredible efforts of World Central Kitchen in Gaza,” they added.
The prints are now available here in two sizes.
All profits will be donated to World Central Kitchen.
