Out November 6th!
For a brief (but brilliant) period during the mid 90s, it seemed like Kerbdog were set to kick the likes of Metallica off their throne and conquer the rock world. Armed with a brace of eardrum battering records (‘94’s self titled debut and ‘97’s On The Turn) their melodies were mightier than Mjolnir and they had countless riffs that were as sharp as Diana Prince’s invisible chainsaw (yes, that’s totally now a thing. Look it up!).
As history tells us of course, unfortunately the ‘Dog never had their day, but thankfully there’s still a battalion of believers who kept the faith over the decades and today their devotion is rewarded with the news that the boys are reissuing both of their seminal albums on vinyl, so now you don’t have to spend an arm, leg or future firstborn on a hard to find first pressing of On The Turn.
Available from their website and all good record shops from November 6 via Hassle Hindsight, Kerbdog is on green vinyl and the aforementioned On The Turn is yellow. While the latter is the critics’ favourite and had world beater written all over it, their meatier debut is this writer’s pick, but both are a must buy for any self respecting fan of alternative rock (and would grace any “Best Irish Albums Of All Time” list worth a damn *cough*).
There are also hand numbered clear vinyl versions of both LP’s available exclusively on the website and they’re limited to 300 copies each (well 299 each, as your humble Hot Press correspondent grabbed a set this morning).
Captain of the Good Ship Kerbdog Cormac Battle had this to say about the reissues:
“It’s truly humbling to be bringing out the two Kerbdog albums on vinyl. They’re for the fans who’ve supported us from the beginning and vindicated those albums across the years, for those who came on board after we thought the albums were dead and buried and also for ourselves – mainly because I have only one copy of the On The Turn LP and I can’t afford to pay the extortionate prices on eBay!”
We’re willing to bet our very best ‘Mexican Wave’ inspired cardigan and glasses combo that those clear vinyl editions will sell out soon, so don’t hang about if you want to snag one.
In addition to these most welcome reissues, Kerbdog also have a new mailing list you can sign up for, so if you want to find out when their all too rare reunion shows will happen visit www.kerbdog.com.
