Hyundai Mercury Prize announce dates for 2018
The shortlist of twelve Hyundai Mercury Prize Albums of the Year will be revealed at the Albums of the Year Launch event.
Responsible for recognising the best in new British music, the shortlist for this year's Hyundai Mercury category of Albums of the Year will take place at the launch event this July, on Thursday the 26th of July.
The awards are best known for showcasing an eclectic mix of contemporary tracks and will take place at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on Thursday, 20 September 2018. The event will feature live performances from many of the twelve shortlisted artists and will end with the announcement of the overall winner.
The Prize’s broadcast partner, BBC Music, will be providing live television and radio coverage of the event on BBC Four and BBC Radio 6 Music.
Previous overall winners include Sampha with Process in 2017 and Skepta in 2016 with Konnichiwa.
Previous nominees also include David Bowie, The 1975, Alt-J, The xx, Radiohead and Ed Sheeran and Stormzy.
