Doireann Garrihy and Eoghan McDermott to take part in St Vincent de Paul sleep-out
The breakfast show's duo will be sleeping under the stars and giving away great prizes throughout Wednesday, December 9th, for families in need this Christmas.
RTÉ 2FM presenters Doireann Garrihy and Eoghan McDermott will officially take part in a sleep-out this Wednesday, December 9th, to raise vital funds for St Vincent de Paul.
The pair will be joined by 2FM colleagues Emma Power and Aindriú de Paor for the fundraiser, which raises a huge amount every year for Ireland's homelessness services.
"This year, the Annual Appeal of the Society of St Vincent de Paul will be one of the most difficult in the society's 176-year history," Garrihy and McDermott said on their show this morning.
"With SVP shops closed for so long and collections interrupted, donations are needed now more than ever, because many families will face impossible choices this Christmas. If you are struggling to keep a roof over your head, how do you choose between a decent dinner or a warm house? What do you sacrifice to buy those precious gifts after such a tough year?" they added.
"In the first 10 months of this year alone, almost 112,000 requests for help were received by SVP as families struggle to keep their heads above water. And with Christmas approaching, SVP expects that number to increase substantially and exceed 160,000... That's why we need your help for the 2FM Breakfast Christmas Sleep-Out."
Join the duo on Wednesday morning when they'll be outside and listen in to 2FM all day on Wednesday to hear special performances.
