With a BA degree from UCD under his belt, Julian Vignoles began writing for Hot Press in 1977. Two years on, he moved to the fledgling RTÉ 2fm as a producer. He later transferred to Radio 1, where his brief included the Pat Kenny Show, Liveline and The Sunday Show. In 1994, Julian switched to television, making Christy Moore Uncovered and The Paul Brady Songbook. Vignoles subsequently rose to the position of Assistant Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, executive-producing numerous hit RTÉ shows, including Treasure Island, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and Cabin Fever. He was also RTÉ’s Mr. Eurovision for a number of years. He retired from his position with RTÉ last year. A cycling enthusiast, in partnership with Sean Farrell, he launched See Dublin By Bike, a venture running organised bicycle tours of Dublin.
