As predicted, Snow Patrol emerged the big winners at the Meteor Music Awards, which took place at The Point in Dublin last night.

Gary Lightbody and the boys picked up a staggering four awards - that's one more than U2's victory last year - for Best Irish Band; Best Irish Album for Eyes Open, Most Downloaded Song for 'Chasing Cars' and Best Live Performance for their concert at Marlay Park.
The latter award fought off competition from Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Eagles and Arctic Monkeys. However the Sheffield troupe did bag a gong for Best International Album for Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.
Other international winners included Lily Allen (Best International Female) and Justin Timberlake, who retained his throne as Best International Male.
Closer to home, Luan Parle won Best Irish Female, Damien Dempsey kept the status as Best Irish Male, and Director were crowned the Best New Irish Act. The Malahide foursome also performed at the night, as did Westlife and Ronan Keating, The Pussycat Dolls, The Blizzards, Kaiser Chiefs and Amy Winehouse.
Ms Winehouse, pictured here, said: “I might go say hello to the Kaiser Chiefs. I don’t get to go home much at the moment and the Kaiser Chiefs remind me of Camden.”
