His remarkable run sees off competition from Hozier, Taylor Swift and more for another week.
The frenzy to get tickets for his VH1 Storytellers special in Whelan’s ensured Ed Sheeran remained the pop name on everyone’s lips this week. It may have had a part to play in the continued success of second album X as well. The record debuted at the top of the Irish Albums Chart 30 weeks ago ago, but it is still selling like hot cakes. Having returned to the No.1 in the first week of 2015, it remains immovable at the summit.
There are very few changes at all, for that matter, at the business end of the chart. Hozier is once again in second place, Taylor Swift’s 1989 is at No.3, and Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour is just below her.
One Direction and George Ezra swap places, now at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively, but from there it is once again The Script, Olly Murs, Ella Henderson and The Coronas completing the Top 10.
The highest new entry comes from Sia. The star who doesn’t want to be a star sees her 1000 Forms Of Fear enter at No. 13, following a week in which some controversy was raised over the new Shia LaBeouf-featuring video for ‘Elastic Heart’.
In terms of new Irish entries, The West’s Awake by Tommy Fleming debuts at No. 18.
