The Coldest Season
Mellow, introspective mood music from Rod Modell.
An awful lot of rubbish is spouted about Deepchord being significant because they built on the Basic Channel dub techno sound, but if anything, Rod Modell’s love of recreating Jamaican music’s seismic bass and all-encompassing FX is more introspective than Maurizio’s revered releases. Most Basic Channel EPs were geared for the dance floor, whereas this collection is tailor made for listening to at home after a long night or for a mid-afternoon drive as the rain pelts down outside. Multi-layered textures, slow-motion bass, oceanic reverb and an intangible, ethereal pathos make Season perfect mood music.
