Northern rockers share the promo for 'Bernadette'
Punky Northern Irish rockers Empty Lungs have unveiled a brand new video for 'Bernadette'.
Half of a double A-side release - paired with the just-as-earwiggy 'Medicine' - the track is a powerful statement on the hypocrisy of anti-abortion campaigners.
Quoth vocalist and guitarist Kev Jones, "'Bernadette' is a criticism of the actions of the ‘pro-life’ movement in Northern Ireland and further afield. It points out the self-righteous hypocrisy in claiming that you’re ‘protecting life’ by subjecting vulnerable women in difficult situations to tirades of abuse. It also points out that those who take the moral high ground are often the ones carrying out the most insensitive, venomous acts."
The proceeds from the single's sales will be donated to womenonweb.org.
It certainly took the fancy of our Edwin McFee when he ran the rule over the track in the current issue of Hot Press, calling it "incendiary and anthemic from start to finish"; now complete with an equally thought-provoking visual, you can give it a watch below.
