The Coronas debut at number 3

Danny O'Reilly has also got his mitts on Rory Gallagher's favourite guitar!

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 02 Oct 2009

Music Show headliners The Coronas make it two smash hit albums in a row with their latest opus, Tony Was An Ex-Con, debuting at number 3 this week in Ireland.

Also making their bow today are Paramore who claim the top spot with Brand New Eyes, Ian Brown who’s at 13 with My Way, Basshunter at 16 with Bass Generation, Newton Faulkner at 18 with Rebuilt By Humans, Alice In Chains at 21 with Black Gives Way To Blue and Sharon Shannon at 25 with Saints And Scoundrels.

Reflecting the start of the pre-Christmas album release season, the surge of new entries is good news for record companies who’ve plenty of fresh product to push.

Meanwhile, this morning found Danny O’Reilly trying Rory Gallagher’s Fender Stratocaster on for size at the RDS where the Music Show bursts into life tomorrow morning at 10am. The Rory Gallagher Guitar Exhibition – there’s 25 of them in all – is one of many attractions as the Irish rock ‘n’ roll industry comes together for its annual blowout.
