Robbie cancels MTV performance
Robbie Williams is the latest top name to pull out of a show.
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 30 Oct 2009

He was scheduled to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 5 in Berlin, but has cancelled due to what has been described as a "scheduling conflict".
There has been no speculation as to whether his withdrawal will have any effect on his chances of winning the Best Male category for which he has been nominated. Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga and Beyonce have all received nominations in several categories.
Having done such a fine job last year, Katy Perry will host the ceremony again this year. Green Day, Foo Fighters, Leona Lewis, Jay-Z and Tokio Hotel are lined up to perform at the event.

A spirited take on an old Lewis Taylor soul record, spiking it up with some funky electro touches. Still, can’t help but feel that performing cover versions minimises Robbie’s impact; he is a personality first, musician second (which is why his gigs have always been better than his records) – if I can’t scrutinise the lyrics for salacious titbits on his latest personal dramas, I’m less inclined to pay attention.

Album number three for the man who would be pop king finds Robbie Williams in increasingly contemplative mood. Which isn’t all that surprising, as anyone who has been observing him of late would agree.
