The former Beatle has spoken out against the American president with a new song to be included on his upcoming album.
Sir Paul McCartney made his annual appearance at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), an organisation he himself founded in 1995. McCartney spoke to the crowd of students about the importance of art in turbulent political times. “Sometimes the situation in the world is so crazy that you’ve got to address it," the former Beatle explained.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, McCartney explained, “He’s unleashed the ugly side of America. People feel like they have got a free pass to be, if not violent, at least antagonistic towards people of a different colour or a different race."
“I think we all thought we’d got past that a long time ago.” he lamented.
There is no release date for the album as of yet, but it is expected later this year.
