It takes the form of a Dublin tour...
Dublin act The Pale have launched a free app to coincide with the release of their new album I Woke Up And I Was Gone.
The app takes the form of a tour of Dublin, and sees the band taking in some interesting, innovative and inspirational sights around the city. Along the way they perform acoustic versions songs from the album at each location, chat to the patrons of the various businesses and initiatives they visit, and give their own unique insight into a lesser spotted side of Dublin.
Band member Matthew Devereux told Hot Press: "It began as an idea between myself and a good friend called Declan O Brien, for an app that uses the Ulysses model of a one-day tour of Dublin. It was filmed last September with the help of some friends and the talents of the Killkenny-born drector Darragh Byrne.
He continued: "The Pale App is a journey using the vehicle of 12 new songs and two musicians with one day to shoot a 2011 document of Dublin that covers 12 handpicked locations in the centre of Dublin, some new, some old, all of them interesting.’

Additional functionality will be added to the album once it's launched, allowing users who visit the locations to ‘check in’ and download the studio version of that location’s song when they visit.
Both Apple and Android versions of the 'I Woke Up And I Was Gone' app are available. Catch The Pale live at this year's Festival of the Fires in Westmeath (May 5).
