Michael Eavis wants U2 for Glasto 2011

Hopefully it'll be second time lucky for the band.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 06 Aug 2010

As U2 get ready to resume touring duties again tonight in Turin, Michael Eavis has confirmed that he’s invited them to be the opening night headliners at Glastonbury 2011.

The chaps were down to play this year, but had to hand the baton over to Gorillaz after Bono injured his back.

Other acts being mooted as possible bill-toppers are Lady Gaga, Kylie, Eminem and Radiohead.

Meanwhile back at the Stadio Olimpico, queuing fans were delighted last night to be treated to pizza and an autograph signing session by the band who were in extremely chipper form.

Following the rain storms in Northern Italy which nearly caused the cancellation of the Juventus vs. Shamrock Rovers Europa League tie – well done to The Hoops on a magnificent display – the weather in Turin is said to be perfect and expected to stay that way for the show.
