So, in what was definitely a first for the Hot Press Speakeasy Tent here at Forbidden Fruit – We’ve had a marriage proposal!
During our interview with Norman Cook, AKA Fatboy Slim, word spread to Hot Press staffers of a special request from one of the many fans in attendance.
Looking a bit sheepish, Robbie Moore was brought to the stage by Mr. Cook and host Roisin Dwyer. What followed drew gasps from the whole tent. It's official, this is the Hot Press Speakeasy's first marriage proposal.
Talking to Hot Press' Colm O'Regan after gathering their nerves, the happy couple - Robbie Moore from Kildare and Emily Tutty from Wicklow told us that when they first met in The Court in Ennis, "It was love at first sight".
Robbie went on to give Hot Press some details on how the budding marriage began, "I added her on Facebook, and then we finally went out for a drink. I think she thought I was a stalker at the start“. The future groom went on to tell us, "I have the ring, I haven’t spoken to her dad yet but it’s going to happen". Little did the expectant fiancee know that the ring he would propose with would be borrowed from his hero Norman Cook's own fingers!
Robbie then explained to us why he felt that our tent, while Norman Cook was being interviewed, seemed like the place to pop the question, "Everyone’s here, Fatboy Slim is here! Now’s the time." 'Right Here, Right Now' indeed. The couple admitted to being huge fans of the 'Rockafeller Skank’ DJ. "We’ll definitely invite him to the wedding", they said, "He can even DJ if he wants!"
As a thank-you for us allowing him the opportunity to get down on one knee, Robbie assured us that Hot Press will also definitely be in attendance, "You have to be there!" he told us. You don't have to ask us twice Robbie.
What a start to a great festival weekend. Roll on Forbidden Fruit day two.
