Is Damo and Ivor's viral hit on it's way to the top of the Irish charts?
'Everybody's Drinkin' shoots to No.1 on iTunes
Since it's first viewing on RTÉ's Republic Of Telly Monday night, comedy duo Damo and Ivor's 'Everybody's Drinkin' has shot to the top of the iTunes in less than two days. The duo, in fact both played by one guy, Andy Quirke (brother of model Wesley and son of Quirkey's Good Time Emporium owner Richard Quirke) have also been popular on YouTube, gaining over 70,000 hits so far. The song, which pays more than a passing resemblance to the Lonely Island comedy troupe tracks and David Guetta's 'Sexy Chick' tells the tale of a raucous night out from characters on both sides of the social divide which ends in each, to quote the song, "getting shitfaced". The track may have been compared to the Rubberbandits but it's Quirke's witty double-pronged attack on Dublin drinking culture that has surged the song, on the back of a viral internet push to the heady heights of the chart summit.
Will it hit the top? We'll see on Friday.
"Techno Techno Techno Heaven".
