Roisin Murphy to feature on Groove Armada LP
Groove Armada's Andy Cato has revealed the dance duo plan to collaborate with Wicklow's Roisin Murphy on their new album.
Cato and Murphy have a long-running creative partnership – Cato helped write and produce much of Murphy's hit album Overpowered, including the top 20 single 'You Know Me Better'. "She's definitely in the frame," Cato told Hot Press. "She's going to come over here in a couple of weeks' time and put down a couple of tracks."
He lauded Murphy as one of the most talented vocalists he's worked with. "She's an amazing singer. She's full of life and she's definitely up for it. Also, she tells things like they are are – there's no messing about. But then so do I. We spend most of the time laughing."
Cato revealed the record, as yet untitled and slated for an early summer release, will have a "gritty rock vibe". "We're getting the whole band into my studio. We're going to be gigging in the studio – and make the gig the album."
He added that he and GA partner Tom Findlay also plan to put out a house album by year's end. Groove Armada's last record, 2007's Soundboy Rock, was regarded as the most successful of their career, with high-profile cameos from ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena and rapper Rhymefest.
