Lir for live album, documentary and Dublin dates
Legendary Dublin band Lir are to release a posthumous live album on October 3 through 1969, the independent label whose roster also includes Pugwash and The Pale.
Cunningly titled Lir Live, it’s the cue for the band to reconvene for two hometown October 4 shows in Tower Records, Wicklow Street and Whelan’s.
If that wasn’t enough to be going on with, they’re also the subject of a new Arts Council-funded documentary that’s being assembled by local director Shimmy Marcus.
A hugely popular live draw in both Ireland and the States where they toured incessantly during the late ‘90s, Lir’s ranks included Dave Hopkins and Colm ‘Q’ Quearney who’ve both enjoyed subsequent solo success, and Rob Malone who’s a long-time member of the David Gray band.
