Flaming Lips to play Belfast
The Flaming Lips have confirmed an August visit to Belfast’s Custom House Square.
The Flaming Lips will play Belfast’s Custom House Square on August 11.
Tickets priced £35 go on sale at 9am on Monday May 12 from www.belsonic.com and The Stiff Kitten venue in Bankmore Square, phone +44 (0) 28 9023 8700.
If any are leftover, they’ll go on general Ticketmaster sale the following Friday.
The show is part of a new series of one-day gigs, which will run in the city this summer under the Belsonic banner.
There’s also talk of the Lips’ Christmas On Mars sci-fi flick getting a Belfast screening to coincide. Due to premiere later this month at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in Canada, it includes additional cameos from Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock and Hebrew Hammer star Adam Goldberg.
Asked to describe his meisterwork, Coyne says: “Think Eraserhead or Dead Man crossed with some kind of fantasy and space aspects like The Wizard Of Oz and maybe 2001: A Space Odyssey. Except done without real actors or money, and set at Christmas-time.”
We can’t wait!
