The Hot Press Newsdesk, 10 Apr 2008

One of the most commercially successful hard rock bands in history will perform at Marlay Park on August 20 with support from Tenacious D.
Metallica last played in Ireland in 2006 to a sold-out crowd at the RDS. The Grammy-winning rockers have sold over 100 million records worldwide and are currently working on their ninth studio album.
Duo Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D played a sold-out concert at the RDS Simmonscourt last year, and will bring their quest to become the "Greatest Band on Earth" to Dublin for a second time.
Tickets go on sale Friday, April 18 at all Ticketmaster outlets for €74.50.
