The Rex The Dog Show
It’s a case of “been there/done that/snogged someone I shouldn’t have to this track on Saturday night” – and by and large the scene is starting to collapse in on itself.
At this stage of the game, dance music filled with big beats and trance-y hooks isn’t anything new. It’s a case of “been there/done that/snogged someone I shouldn’t have to this track on Saturday night” – and by and large the scene is starting to collapse in on itself. Enter into the fray Rex The Dog to save the day. While the DJ isn’t doing anything especially visionary, his debut is a fun-filled romp that wears its ‘80s house influences on its sleeve. For the most part it’s a great record, with the highlight being the Marmite-esque remix of the Knife’s ‘Heartbeats’ (which was popularised by Jose Gonzalez a while back). Depending on your viewpoint you’ll be reaching for the volume button to turn it up – or for the nearest shotgun!
Key track: ‘The Knife: Heartbeats (Rex the Dog Remix)’
