Snow Patrol in injury drama
Snow Patrol's unfortunate spate on injuries has continued with Jonny Quinn - but there's a celebrity replacement at hand.
After Gary Lightbody's vocal problems bassist Paul Wilson's arm and shoulder injury, drummer Jonny Quinn has confirmed he broke his arm on Monday January 15 whilst snowboarding in the French Alps.
It means he'll be out of action for Norn Iron's band's European tour starting on February 5, but long-time pal and former Therapy? sticksman Graham Hopkins has been confirmed as his replacement.
"Jonny rung me up during the week to see if I could help them out," Graham explains. "I was more than happy to. We've been friends for years, since their first album when they'd kip on my couch if they came down to Dublin."
The schedule means that he's got two weeks to learnt the entire SP back catalogue, but he's not fazed.
"We've got one rehearsal together and then we're straight in to the live shows, but I'm more excited than nervous," he enthuses. "I'll be on hand until he's matchfit, but hopefully Jonny will have recovered in time for their Australian shows in mid-February."
Meanwhile, fans of Hopkins' current band Boss Volenti need not despair - they're still going ahead with their plans, and releasing 'The Gun' as a free, download-only single and playing Whelan's, Dublin, on February 2.
