Josh Ritter hospitalised at Letterkenny gig
The Hot Press cover star collapses on stage and is rushed to hospital.
Audience members at Letterkenny's An Grianán Theatre were left both shocked and confused last night as singer/songwriter Josh Ritter was carried off stage after collapsing to the floor mid-set.
Posting on Ritter's messageboards, one fan said: "A doctor was called and after about half an hour it was announced on the PA that the doctor had deemed that Josh could not continue. They did not say what exactly happened."
A statement released from Josh's camp today explained the situation: "After an initial examination at the venue and further tests at the hospital Josh was given a tentative all clear."
In another posting on Ritter's messageboard, his manager Darius Zelkha reiterated his improving condition, saying: "Josh is doing much better - luckily it doesn't seem like anything too serious."
Those still waiting to see Josh live need not fear. There are plans to reschedule the Letterkenny show, and Josh is "adamant" that none of the future concerts have been cancelled. These dates are:
Wed 8 March - Dolans, Limerick
Thurs 9 March - St John’s Church, Dingle
Fri 10 March – Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin
Sun 12 March – Everyman Theatre, Cork
The tour is in support of this week's release of his second album for Independent Records, The Animal Years.
