'Brighten Up My Life' got its first airing on Today FM this morning.
It might be hard to believe that it's been 30 years since The Stunning formed in Galway in 1987, but that is indeed the case. Now, twenty-four years since the release of 'Tightrope Walker', the lads areabout to jump into the 21st Century with 'Brighten Up My Life'. No rush lads…in your own time.
'Brighten Up My Life' is what would happen if you put Marc Bolan of T-Rex into a room with The Black Keys and then the White Stripes joined the party. Maybe Primal Scream stopped by for a drink too. It’s going back to what the boys have always been good at – inventing big guitar riffs (see ‘Brewing up a Storm’ and ‘Romeo’s on Fire’ for more on that note).
The band is also putting the finishing touches to a re-recorded, re-imagined version of their multi-platinum second album Once Around the World. It hit the number one spot in 1992 and included the hit singles ‘Everything that Rises’; ‘Heads are Gonna Roll’; ‘Mr. Ginger’ and ‘She’s on my Mind’. Haven't felt that the original album hadn't been done justice, it's being re-released as Twice Around the World and will include the new single ‘Brighten up my Life’ as a bonus track.
