Its the first track to get a video from their new EP.
The Strokes have unveiled the video for 'Threat Of Joy'. It was directed by Warren Fu who has previously worked with Daft Punk, The Killers and Snoop Dogg and has worked with The Strokes several times in the past.
The video takes place on a sound stage until filming is interrupted by shady, suited government types and eventually stormed by a SWAT team. All the while the band continue to perform the track in the middle of it all until frontman Julian Casablancas is dragged away by the armed SWAT team.
Its also the first track off their recent Future, Present, Past EP. The three track EP was released earlier this month. Speaking on Beats 1 Casablancas claimed the band had planned on making a video for 'OBLIVIUS' first but that was canned because of it's political content. He said, "Well we were going to do 'OBLIVIUS’ first and we had all this kind of super heavy political content and then it kinda of through different indirect corridors got shutdown".
