Sufjan Stevens Christmas boxset confirmed
The rumours are true, and we have the title track to prove it...
Yesterday we brought you Lego videos and the word that Sufjan Stevens was planning something very Christmassy indeed. Today we have confirmation.
The indie darling from Detroit will release not an album, but a mammoth Christmas boxset consisting of five EPs on November 13 through his Asthmatic Kitty imprint.
Entitled Silver & Gold: Songs For Christmas, Volumes 6-10, it follows the first five 'volumes' of his Songs For Christmas boxset from 2006 and will be released as a digital download or a limited edition vinyl box set (which will set you back $120). For your bucks, you get the vinyl, christmas stickers and temporary tattoos, a paper ornament, a Christmas songbook, a colouring book, liner notes and hallucinogenic photographs by, we're informed, "Sufjan Stevens, drug-free since 1975".
Music-wise, expect guest spots from the likes of Aaron and Bryce Dessner (The National) and Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry.
Here's the title track, 'Silver & Gold':
