Now in its sixth year.
A great chance to reconnect with your musical roots, get involved with your community and help a great cause all at once, Trad for Trócaire is back once again. Set to run March 14 – 17 this year, people are being asked to organise and register their own trad sessions around the country.
Since the partnership between Trócaire and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann began in 2010, over 1,500 Trad events have taken place across Ireland – as well as in the UK and US. Over €565,000 has been raised by passionate and enthusiastic musicians and trad fans. This money is now supporting vulnerable communities in many countries across the developing world who are suffering daily with extreme poverty and injustice.
The average session normally raises around €320/£264; enough money to provide two clean water pumps for a whole community in Malawi, as well as giving two families access to the equipment needed for creating a sustainable garden. So no matter how big or small the event, this is people’s support at work.
It's time to do it all again – go to [link]trocaire.org/trad[/link] to order a free Trad For Trócaire event pack, find a session near you, and get involved.
