SON To Support Sharon Shannon At The National Concert Hall
It’ll be an all-Clare line-up onstage in the National Concert Hall in August with Ennis-born singer-songwriter Susan O’Neill (aka SON) confirmed as the support act to Sharon Shannon on the 17th of that month. Tickets (starting at €25) are on sale now.
One of our ‘Hot for 2017’ picks, SON – whose acclaimed debut album Found Myself Lost was released earlier this year – has been making serious waves in recent times. When The Joshua Tree hit its 30th anniversary in March, the exclusive hotpress.com video of her covering U2’s ‘Exit’ was praised by no less an authority than Bono himself as being “great unfucked up work on a fucked up song.”
Earlier this month, the gravelly voiced Susan – who also sings with Waterford’s Propeller Palms and King Kong Company – played a series of showcase gigs in New York. Along the way, she visited Woodstock and recorded this touching homage to Janis Joplin.
