The banana coloured axe will be going under the hammer for a five figure price.
A yellow guitar once owned and played by Prince will is to be put on auction, it has been reported. The Star Tribune in Minnesota has reported that the custom made instrument will go to auction on June 24th at Heritage Auctions in Beverly Hills, California. The "yellow cloud" has a starting bid of $30,000.
The pop icon passed away last month aged 57 at his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota. No official cause of death have been revealed yet. Other items going on auction from the late musician include record sales awards and an original demo tape including the tracks 'Jelly Jam' and "My Love Is Forever'.

The guitar is one of seven custom axes used by Prince in the 1980's and 90's. It comes with a unique serial number and a letter of authenticity from one time Prince guitar tech, Zeke Clark. Clark also noted that the neck of the guitar was broken during a tour in France 1994 was repaired soon after.
Speaking to the Star Tribune current owner Richard Leece said, "unfortunately, as morbid as it is, when people pass, their items become more valuable".
Leece bought the guitar a year from Heritage Auctions over a year ago for the current starting bid price. The final cost of the guitar is expected to be significantly higher.
