Montage Of Heck, the intimate new Kurt Cobain documentary from director Brett Morgen, was put together with unparalleled access to the late Nirvana frontman's vaults and the upcoming soundtrack is promising even more freshly unearthed material.
While the film received a limited cinema release, it will reach the masses when it lands on DVD this November 6. On that date, we will also get a soundtrack that is being labelled as a Kurt Cobain "solo album".
The record will include home recordings and rarities featured in the film, as well as additional material.
Morgen has talked up the soundtrack as an intimate glimpse into Kurt's life and art, saying that: "You really get a sense of how happy he was simply by creating himself. His lyrics are really playful, and, at times, you can feel his smile and warmth coming through."
Not only that, there is the suggestion we will get a proper new song.
The demo was not included in the theatrical release but will make the DVD cut of Montage Of Heck and feature in the soundtrack. Morgen says the track was recorded circa 1991 and features falsetto vocals similar to Brian Wilson's – not too big a claim then!
