The original cast recording took home the award for Best Musical Theater Album in LA last night.
Not content with an Oscar and multiple Tony awards, the phenomenon that is Once last night scooped a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album in Los Angeles.
Once: A New Musical (Original Cast Recording) came out last March and, like the film soundtrack, was mainly authored by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová.
The latest accolade comes just a couple of weeks before Once – The Musical commences its Dublin run in the Gaiety Theatre.
Talking last week to Hot Press, Markéta revealed: “I’m just finished making a record in Iceland and while I'm travelling to LA for the Grammys I'm going to meet the record company to set a release date for it. I think it should come out this fall. I can't wait to play Dublin again soon; that would be lovely.”
Unfortunately the trip to the West Coast ultimately did not go ahead. The continued storms in the US meant that travel was not possible.

We will, however, have more – lots more! – on Once – The Musical in our new issue along with the chance to win tickets for the Gaiety.
