All proceeds are going to mental health charity Aware
Today sees the iTune and [link]RTÉ.ie/shop[/link]unleashing of A Murray Christmas 2, the follow-up to 2012's first collection of cool yule tunes assembled by Radio 1's John Murray.
Joining the RTÉ Concert Orchestra this time are Lisa Hannigan, Mick Flannery, Cathy Davey, Eimear Quinn, The Riptide Movement, Walking on Cars, Máirtín O’Connor, Zoë Conway, Dónal Lunny, Damien Dempsey and Declan O’Rourke plus award-winning writer Michael Harding, 2014 Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh and Downton Abbey's Irish star Allen Leech who provide the spoken word element.
Tunes covered include 'Winter Song', 'Stop The Cavalry', 'Happy Xmas (War Is Over)', 'O Holy Night' and 'The Start Of Christmas'.
“I'm delighted to be involved in such a creative project with some of Ireland's finest musical talent," says Mr. Murray who's hoping to make a mint (sorry, couldn't resist it!) for partner charity Aware.
"Aware does amazing work for people with depression,: he continues. "There's hardly a family in Ireland that hasn't been touched by mental illness as I know only too well. It is so important for people and to have the support they need in tough times.”
