"I fell in love!" - James Blake tells Hot Press
The dubstep artist reveals the inspiration behind his warm new sound...
Dubstep artist and singer James Blake has opened up to Hot Press about his new album, Overgrown, due out on April 8. We've had a listen ahead of its release, and can confirm that 'difficult second album syndrome' wasn't at all an issue!
The collection, which channels a warm nu-soul sound, is a step away from the singer's experimental 2011 2011 self-titled album. What brought about the change?
"Well", he tells HP's Craig Fitzpatrick, "falling in love. I think that's kinda what's happened!"
He continues, "I can't deny it. There's no point in trying to come up with some other explanation for what I've been writing about... When it happened, I was really struck. Y'know - Suddenly I'm hit!"
When asked if there's a pressure to live up to album number one, Blake responds; "A lot of people like to chip in: 'Oh, by the way, you really need to another 'Limit To Your Love'. It does mess with your head. Especially when those people are in charge of selling your record!"
