In 2015, there were 240 racist incidents reported to the Immigrant Council of Ireland.
The Immigrant Council of Ireland has reported an increase in the number of racist incidents taking place in Ireland.
Incidents rose by 11% in 2015, compared to the previous year. The brunt of the racist abuse is being targeted at people of Muslim and African ethnic backgrounds.
40 per cent of the incidents were reported by Ireland's Muslim community, while 33 per cent of reports were made by the African community.
In total, 240 racist occurrences were reported. These incidents ranged from, 37 reports involving physical violence, 99 reports of verbal abuse, 68 reports of discrimination and 31 reports of intimidation.
Most worryingly of all, the chief executive of the Immigrant Council Of Ireland, Brian Killoran, says that the majority of racist incidents are not even reported.
