David Kitt’s upward career trajectory continues with ‘Song From Hope Street (Brooklyn, NY)’ being co-opted onto the soundtrack of Josh “Pearl Harbour” Hartnett’s new movie, 40 Days & 40 Nights.
“There was no big publishing push on it,” he reveals. “Somebody I know made a phone call to somebody he knows in the film company, and they decided it was exactly what they were looking for. I haven’t got an American deal at the moment, so it’ll be interesting to see if it stirs up any interest.”
In addition to having embarrassingly nice things said about him in Uncut and The Guardian, Kittser has gained his very own celebrity stalkers.
“Leftfield have been to five or six of my shows and are talking about us doing something together, which would be really great.
“As for my own stuff, I’m trying to decide whether or not to bring out another low-key record like Small Moments, or keep the five or six new songs I’ve written for the next album proper. If I do go the Small Moments route, it’ll start off as an Irish-only release.”

What about the rumours that he’s planning to go rawk on us?
“I used to do the Sonic Youth/My Bloody Valentine thing when I was 15 or 16 and might go back to it a bit – albeit with a heavy electronica edge.”
In the meantime, Kittser does the live thing this week at South, Waterford (November 22nd); Olympia, Dublin (23rd); Nerve Centre, Derry (24th); and the Empire, Belfast (25th).
