Recently recovered studio tapes allow for sci-fi classic to make return
The soundtrack to The Man Who Fell To Earth, the 1976 cult classic starring David Bowie, is finally getting a release.
Bowie portrays Thomas Jerome Newton, an alien who comes to Earth seeking water for his home planet. Bowie was constantly drawn back to the character, and the film is considered the genesis of his Thin White Duke persona.
The remastered and restored soundtrack, featuring pieces by Stomu Yamash'ta and John Phillips, will be released in a 2 CD set on September 9, followed by a November 18 release of a 2LP 180GM gatefold vinyl format, as well as a dual format 2CD / 2LP deluxe box set which comes with a film poster and a 48 page hardback book with rare photos and an essay from Paolo Hewitt.

The film will also return to cinemas on September 9, and be released for home media from October 24. Lazarus, the sequel musical written by Bowie and playwright Enda Walsh, will also play at London's Kings Cross Theatre from 25 October to 22 January following a successful run in New York.
Both the film and the soundtrack are currently available for pre-order on amazon.
