Update: New Vampire Weekend on the way
Their third album is out May 7.
Ezra Koenig and co have announced via Twitter that their longest album sessions ever (20 odd months) have drawn to a close and the fruits of their labour is on the way.
Quite simply, they tweet: "LP3 complete. May 7th."
The last we heard of the sole purveyors of the Upper West Side Soweto sound was on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where they performed newie 'Unbelievers', in costume, on Halloween night.
Hear that below, and expect to hear it on the currently untitled LP, which was recorded with old pal Ariel Rechtshaid in a LA studio built in the '30s.
Frontman Koenig says of the follow-up to 2010's Contra: "Things that we might have found boring in the past, we've started to find more fresh," said Koenig. "This record has more piano and acoustic guitar and organ. But at the same time, that means we needed to find ways to flip it."
