The Verve to reunite
With the Spice Girls reunion still in the realms of hearsay, we can only console ourselves with the news that The Verve are back.
With Richard Ashcroft and Nick McCabe having put aside their differences "for the love of the music" according to their website, The Verve have been in the studio recording new material and have just announced a UK-only tour in November.
A new album should follow shortly afterwards.
Original member Simon Tong will not be part of the reunion as he is busy with Damon Albarn's pet project The Good, The Bad And The Queen. But four out of five ain't bad.
Although no Irish dates have been announced yet, new best pals Achcroft, McCabe, Simon Jones and Peter Salisbury will be playing the Glasgow Academy (November 2 + 3); Blackpool's Empress Ballroom (November 5 + 6) and The London Roundhouse (November 8 + 9).
It's been a decade since the band's breakthrough album Urban Hymns was released and eight years since they last played together.
