The singer posed as though she was being arrested by officers at Queensland's Gold Coast Airport.
As reported by The Guardian, after agreeing to participate in a joke photo with Lily Allen, several Australian police officers are now under investigation. The photo of Allen on her knees with her hands cuffed behind her back was taken while the singer was being escorted through gold Coast Airport on July 27. Before the photo was taken off of Instagram it garnered more than 7,000 likes.
A spokesperson for the federal police has released a comment on the incident: "At her request, the members involved placed open handcuffs on Allen for a photo opportunity. ... It appears the members involved were caught up in the moment and standard protocols were breached."
Gold Coast City Councillor Dawn Crichlow also weighed in on the situation, telling Fairfax Radio "I don't appreciate a photo of ... police playing around with their handcuffs," she told Fairfax radio. ... It's bad that the federal police allowed this to happen and they should be hauled over the coals. ... Just a bit of fun would have been to give her the police cap and have a photo taken like that, that would have been fun."
