Derry’s First Legacy event kicks off Feb 6
The traditional music community across Ireland will pay tribute to one of their own in Derry this February.
From February 6 - 9, an all-star line up of Irish traditional music stars, tutors and performers will gather at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin to celebrate the life and legacy of Caoimhín Ó Dochartaigh, a well loved musician, teacher and ambassador of Irish music. This includes an exclusive concert on Saturday February 8, which brings together Frankie Gavin and De Dannan, Alan Burke, and the Jarlath Henderson & Ross Ainslie Trio.
Also over the three days there will be musical masterclasses with world renowned musicians including Frankie Gavin, Jarlath Henderson and Ross Ainslie, and a launch party for Local act The Carlin Family, who will release their first CD A Language Within on Thursday 6.
