Get ready to hear some of the lovely intonations of the Cork accent, like.
The Young Offenders is the upcoming Irish comedy and feature length debut by Peter Foott. It will have it's world premiere at the 2016 Galway Film Fleadh this coming July.
The Young Offenders are Conor and Jock, two Cork scoundrels who have nothing better to be doing than causing a ruckus. In an attempt to make some fast cash and escape the rut of their family lives, they hatch a plan to cross-country in search of a cocaine bales that may or may not have washed up on the West Cork coast.
The film is inspired by the 2007 multi-million (€440 million to be precise) cocaine seizure off the Cork coast. It's a film debut for Foott but he's no newbie to the comedic world. He was the man who directed The Rubberbandits hit 'Horse Outside' and has won awards for his work on RTÉ's Republic of Telly.
The Young Offenders are played by newcomers Chris Walley and Alex Murphy and cameos include PJ Gallagher and Hilary Rose. Foott praised his cast in a statement regarding the film's release; “I’m delighted The Young Offenders is getting such a big release later this summer. I had the pleasure of working with some of the funniest actors in the country and I can’t wait for audiences to see them on screen.”
After the film has premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh, it will be released in cinemas nationwide in September.
The 28th Galway Film Fleadh takes place from July 5 - 10.
