The Guinness Choir's annual Christmas concert is set to take place at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin on Sunday 3rd December 2017 at 7pm.
The concert will also feature festive works such as Benjamin Britten's 'A Ceremony of Carols', and a special performance from singer-songwriter and 'A Woman's Heart' composer, Eleanor McEvoy.
'A Ceremony of Carols' was originally written by Britten to be sung by treble voices with harp accompaniment. This arrangement by Julius Harrison however, will be using soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices. Conceived on a transatlantic voyage in 1943 as Britten was returning from America, it is noteworthy for his using a selection of medieval texts contained in The English Galaxy of Shorter Poems, many of which in their simplicity convey a strong message. Cliona Doris will also be providing the harp accompaniment on the evening.
