All bets were suspended on Turner becoming the new 007 – but what are the chances, now that Turner has confirmed his role in the new BBC Poldark series?
Aidan Turner has had an incredibly successful run as the American Revolutionary war hero, in BBC's hit series Poldark.
With such a positive response to the series, BBC have decided to extend the adventures of Poldark for what they hope will be a third time lucky run. Poldark was the winner of the Audience Award at this years BAFTAs and Turner was the recipient of the Best Breakthrough Award at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards. The Dublin native has experienced a rapid rise in his public profile, since his turn as Poldark began. He starred in the blockbuster franchise The Hobbit as Kili in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
The 33-year old is also sreckoned to be in contention for the role of 007 agent, James Bond. Whether Turner's return in Poldark means that we can definitively count him out of the Bond running is still unclear, so keep placing your bets people – as long as the bookies will take 'em, that is!
Poldark is set for its return to the screens in 2017.
