The National: We're More Militant Now
Matt Berninger tells Hot Press how family life has changed him.
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 19 May 2010

According to Matt Berninger, family can make a man more anti-authoritarian. "Yeah, it makes you more militant in a way. It's easy when you’re by yourself to say, 'Who cares?'"
In the next issue of Hot Press - available Thursday, May 20 - The National frontman speaks to Peter Murphy about his change from narcissistic rocker into a protest singer and why the group were more than vocal about their support of Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy.
He also discusses his new approach to songwriting that has seen the band create a "a tension between an urban state of mind and more rural, wide ocean or the sky."
