The Galwegian trio will be playing 'Radio' live next month.
New Sony Music Ireland signings The Kanyu Tree hit the road next month in support of their ‘Radio’ single, which drops on April 15.
Catch the the brotherly Salthill trio at the Trinity Ball, Dublin (April 8); Sugar Club, Dublin (29); and Roisin Dubh, Galway (30).
It’s the first taster from their debut album, which they’ve been assembling in Galway and London with A Tribe Called Quest man Ali Shaheed Muhammad. It appears that band and producer bonded over a mutual love of Steely Dan and the other FM radio greats the trio were weaned on.
“It started with us listening to our parents’ record collections,” explains Óisín Cluskey. “And a lot of it came from when Daniel started to learn guitar, playing songs from Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, The Bee Gees, The Police, The Eagles and Simon and Garfunkel. Bands like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young came later, alongside Prince and Tears For Fears.”
