Patrick Donoghue (who was mentored by Una Foden of The Saturdays) has emerged triumphant in The Voice of Ireland 2015. The Dublin based singer had proven himself a powerful vocalist as the series developed and his final performance - which impressed the public and the judges alike - was masterful
Una Foden was clearly delighted for her charge when the decision was announced.
"You should be doing nothing but singing for the rest of your life," judge Kian Egan had told him earlier in the contest. On the basis of his victory tonight, that seems to have been a prescient forecast.
Patrick will release an album through Universal Music. The record company may just have a real long-term winner in their hands...
Patrick is well known to team HP as before starring on the RTÉ show (produced by Larry Bass' Shinawil productions) he worked in the Dunnes Stores on Georges St/Exchequer St a short hop from the Hot Press offices. It's fair to say the the crew inside the shop had got totally behind their man!
The runner-up this year was Emma Humber, who was mentored by Bressie. "I hope you know how wonderful you are," the former Blizzards lead singer told her. She too will hopeful find her way into a long-term career...
