We take a look at the Irish acts making it to Metropolis Festival this year.
Krystal Klear - Saturday
An evening with Krystal Klear is like diving into a treasure trove of obscure floor-fillers with funk, soul, boogie, New Jack Swing, electro, and classic house all on the menu. Nile Rodgers is such a big fan of the Dublin producer that he asked him to guest alongside Jessie Ware and Selan on a new Chic track. The Artist Also Known As Dec Lennon is taking part in the Red Bull Academy’s Conversations, which will highlight the creative side of the music industry.
New Jackson - Saturday
Another homegown act participating in Conversations is David Kitt whose more experimental output goes out under the guise of New Jackson. Describing himself as someone who makes “nocturnal house jams with a ghostly disco tint from a studio by the sea”, Kitt’s debut collection of ambient tunes is due through Dublin’s All City Records in early 2017. He’ll be talking at the RDS about his career and the business side of electronic music.
Girl Band - Saturday

The Dubliners’ music is visceral, loud, intense and absolutely enthralling. Having formed in 2011, they finally released their debut album, Holding Hands With Jamie, last year on the legendary Rough Trade label. And what an incendiary collection of songs it is too! If you haven’t had bodies surf over you, been drenched with the sweat of at least ten different people, or been painted with bruises the next morning, you haven’t yet experienced a Girl Band gig...
White Collar Boy - Friday
This Dublin duo sound as impressive on wax - by which, of course, we mean SoundCloud - as they do live. Discovering their mutual love for all things electro when they met at Primavera in Barcelona, Gavin White and Mark Cummins’ dreamy, ambient grooves have graced a well-received series of EPs, with a full-length offering in the works.
