Brand New Eyes
Emo kids kick up a riot on surprisingly edgy third outing
You mightn’t have noticed, but Paramore have slowly been taking over the universe. Their third album, Brand New Eyes, looks set to be the release that helps them finally achieve world domination. It’s clear that the reason the band have previously failed to make consistent records is that (for whatever reason) they were muzzled. Yeah, their older stuff had tinges of punk rock bravado, but not enough. However, with Brand New Eyes the quintet finally get let off the leash and it’s a riot from start to finish. There are tons of highlights to chose from, but ‘Brick By Boring Brick’ and bonus track ‘Decode’ are some of the best pop-punk songs of the last decade and frontwoman Hayley Williams’ voice has never sounded better. Superb stuff.
