Hugs
Clubsters go Indie-electro pop. Nobody gets hurt.
First they were a club for the hipsters of Belfast, then they were a much in demand remixing duo and now the double headed hydra that is Skibunny have metamorphosed into a lean, mean, St Etienne influenced electro-pop machine. Featuring guest appearances from the likes of Maps and the Go! Team, Hugs is an unashamedly indie record that will be at home nuzzling in-between your New Order and Cocteau Twins LPs. Highlights include the hook-heavy ‘Walk Don’t Walk,’ the swaggering ‘Aah Ooh’ and the odd yet still ace re-imagining of the Afghan Whigs’ ‘Miles Iz Ded’ but most of the album is a pleasingly tuneful and painstakingly produced affair.
Key Track: ‘Walk Don’t Walk’
