Legislation regarding the Lisdoonvarna Festival - whose license application was rejected this week - may yet provide various options to save it from cancellation
hotpress.com have learned that, while there is no appeal process available to the promoters of Lisdoonvarna, whose license application was rejected by Clare County Council this week, they do have several options, one of which might yet save the historic festival.
Firstly, they may resubmit their application, taking into account the concerns expressed by Clare County Council and proposing changes and solutions as needed. The Council's concerns at this time include, as they see it, the unsuitability of the road network servicing the area; the significant additional traffic movements and congestion; the unsuitability of proposed car parking; and the scale and level of "activity, traffic, noise, general disturbance and inconvenience".
Additionally, their other option, as reported on hotpress.com previously, would seem to be to relocate the Lisdoonvarna festival elsewhere than the problematic, if historic, eponymous Clare town.

Normally, festival organisers Aiken Promotions would also have the option of applying for planning permission instead of licensing, but as time is short this option would seem to now be closed.
More news expected shortly.
